Donna and The Need For Speed

One afternoon whilst visiting Donna in hospital I thought it might be quite nice to see if there's anything that she'd always wanted to do. So, we started to make a small little list of these things, and, not surprisingly, she was actually very humble in the things that she had on her list, a food fight was top of the list (thank you for putting the pics up with the custard pie on her face, so at least number 1 was ticked off!) Second on the list was to read a book, sounds silly I know but Donna had only ever read one book which was The Hobbit, so off I popped to WH Smiths and bought her a copy, suffice to say that it's still sitting on her bookshelf, gathering dust and the only thing that she probably bothered to read was in the message inside, which, now in hindsight I should've wrote "I bet you still never read the bloody thing" Skipping past number 3 briefly, She had a few other nice little things on her list, take the girls to a concert, to see Alan Carr live, which I did manage to sort for her, and she even got to meet the buck toothed clown, so it was nice to help her achieve some of her bucket list. Going back to what was 3rd on the list now, and Donna wanted to drive a car around a race track, here we go I thought, this is something that I could definitely sort for her. So as a surprise for Donna we organised a little birthday party for her whilst she was in hospital, and as a present I bought her a little remote controlled Lamborghini and said "here you go Don, here's your fast car, fill your boots". To say Donna was a little disapointed would be an understatement, that was until she opened her card and in it was a voucher to drive the big boys grown up version of the Lamborghini, around a race track no less. Quickly her disapointment changed from that of being massively underwhelmed to actually being a tad excited, so excited in fact that I think a little bit of wee may of come out. She said it was the medication, but I knew better, she was proper excited. We had to wait of course until Donna was feeling better, but better she got and the day finally arrived. It was a cold April morning by the time we finally managed to get over to the track and after our briefing on how to navigate the track, we were finally let out to go and 'choose' our stupidly expensive and stupidly fast cars. Being the gentleman that I am, Donna got to choose first. She could have had the Aston Martin, the Porsche, even the Ferrari, but Oh No, Donna HAD to choose the car make that I had on my wall growing up as a nipper, yes Donna chose the Lamborghini, which is fair enough as I did say "You pick first", but I still have a sneaky suspicion that she knew I wanted that sexy little number but chose it for herself anyway. Oh well I had to settle for the Ferrari. Above (top right) is a video of Donna's drive around the circuit, please note the brilliance and control that she had behind the wheel, especially in the early stages where the instructer asked her to change gear and on come the windscreen wipers!! There's also a wonderful moment where I overtake Donna, I think it's pride when she says "That's my brother" but I think we really all know that there's also a smidgeon of annoyance that her little brother had just passed her, how do I know this? Watch the speedo as she so desperately tries to catch up but is just left looking at the arse end of my Ferrari. It was a wonderful day and so wonderful to of been able to make some of Donna's dreams come true, take a look at the video and the pic of her coming out the Lambo, that what's Donna was all about that big silly lovely smile of hers. Love ya loads Don, even though you took MY Lamborghini!! xxx
